Hi guys. ......
Well. .... what a couple of cracking Cup Semi Finals we had! !!
Congratulations to The Royal Oak who edged out local rivals The Stanley Arms 8-6 courtesy of wins in the doubles darts and dominoes by William and Anthony Harrison to secure a hard fought win.
The other match between The Stable Bar and The Lane Ends was even more enthralling as both teams were tied at 7-7 after all their games and it took THREE extra darts and dominoes play off games to decide the outcome with The Stable finally managing to get over the line and book their place in the final.
Doubles comps start next week with the 701 doubles taking place at The Cricket Club 8.30pm prompt start with registration from 8.15pm £4 per pair.
As previously mentioned, the doubles dominoes that was scheduled to be played at The Lane Ends on Monday 15th May will now be held at The Stanley 8.30pm start.
The Stable Bar finished their 501 campaign with a comprehensive 32 point total away at The Stanley to leave them on 241 points after 8 games.
It means that the Royal Oak need thirty points when they travel to the Lane Ends tomorrow night to overtake the leaders and claim the title. The home team, even with a maximum return of 35 points would fall agonisingly short by one point so they are playing for second spot.
The Stable also cemented their position at the top of the dominoes league after an impressive 22-13 win in Wesham and even though they have played one game more, they lead by 43 points from The Stanley.
The Oaks hopes of closing the gap on the leaders were dealt a big blow losing 17-18 at home to the KCC..
Last night's Knockout Cup Preliminary Game went the way of The Stanley as they defeated The Cricket Club 8-2 to progress to the semi finals later in the year.
The cricket club will now host the final.
The Stable Bar had a very successful night at The Royal Oak as they came away 30-10 winners in the cricket in their rearranged match from earlier in the season. That was despite Anthony Harrisons ten point victory in the very first game, the only points the home team would score on the night!
They also took the dominoes with a hard fought 18-17 success with every game providing a 3-2 result!
That puts The Stable 24 points in front of The Oak, who moved into second, at the halfway stage.
They also hold a ten point advantage over the same team in the cricket.
501 returns next week which is a lot closer with only 15 points separating top (Stable ) and bottom (KCC).
Congratulations to Steve Merrill of The Stable Bar who defeated Matt Hastwell 3-1 in the final of the 501 individual comp last week.
Another good night was had by all so thank you for your participation.
Tonight is the preliminary round of the Knockout Cup with The Stanley hosting The KCC in a race to eight points ......
The Royal Oak v Stable Bar rearranged game is also taking place tonight which will finalise all the matches from the first half of an entertaining season so far.
Good luck to all.
Congratulations to Darren Leary of The Lane Ends who last week claimed the Individual Dominoes Title after his victory over Adam Tipton in the final.
An excellent night was had by all so thank you for participating.
501 individual comp tonight at The Stable Bar with registration from 8.15pm for an 8.30pm start.
Please note that depending on the number of entrants and with only one board in operation, early round matches may only be a one leg shoot out.....!
Finally got round to updating the tables from the past two weeks and very interesting it is too!!
Two good weeks of cricket for The Oak puts them top of the table with The Stable Bar in second and with these two teams going head to head in their re arranged match on the 6th March, that game will have a massive bearing on proceedings.
Skel's crew racked up 37 points at home to The KCC and followed that up with a further 35 points away at The Lane Ends last week to give them an impressive 96 points from just three games.
The Stable themselves recorded 30 points away at The Stanley to put them within ten points of the leaders. The Stanley finally found some form by the way of 35 points at The beleaguered KCC and they sit third on 81 points.
In the dominoes, The Stable Bar are firmly in command after they came back from 8-2 down at The Stanley to win 19-16 and they are seven points clear of the afore mentioned team from Wesham in the table, but they also have a game in hand!
The Stanley's cause wasn't helped either last week as they fell to a crushing 21-14 defeat away at The KCC, a win which puts the Kirkham team into third place.
The Oak also have that game in hand, against The Stable so despite being narrowly bottom, that could all change with a good win.
We now move into the Individual Competitions and tonight it's Cricket at The Oak ....... can Jimmy Heald and Norman Dixon produce their fine league form to claim personal glory or will another take the spoils?
£2 per person, registration from 8.15pm and matches start at 8.30pm prompt so get yourselves down for what should be a cracking night.
Please note, that in the individuals there will be no limited overs .....
See you all later.
The Stable Bar very nearly had their unbeaten Dominoes record taken from them last week but managed to fend off The KCC attack to claim an 18-17 victory that keeps them top of the table.
The Stanley move second following their 19-16 away win at the Lane Ends but the margin could have been greater but for losing both doubles matches 4-1 !!
In the cricket, The Stanley somewhat managed to derail the juggernaut Jimmy Heald but he still mamaged a 5 wicket victory over Dave Enty. Carl performed best for the home team with his stunning eight point singles win but The Stanley had enough to claim a 28-13 victory.
The Stable also managed a 28 point total as opposed to The KCC's 11 points, of which Norman Dixon scored 10 !!
The draw for The K.O. Cup Prelim will take place at The Stanley tonight and I will inform you all of the match to be played on Monday 6th March.as soon as.
One Man Scoring Machine Jimmy Heald couldn't prevent his Lane Ends team from crashing to a second successive Cricket defeat despite being involved in 18 of his teams 19 points that they accumulated away at The Stable Bar.
The home team were solid and consistent enough to repel their opponents and a nine point and eight point total from Joe Hayton and Steve Merrill respectively in the singles helped them rack up 28 points in their opening fixture.
The other team to get off to a flying start were the Royal Oak once they remembered where they were playing, away at The Stanley!!
The home team never got going in the runs department despite some excellent bowling performances as Skel's charges amassed 24 points with only 4 against for what was a very satisfactory night's work.
The Stable Bar carried on where they left off in the dominoes with a 22 - 13 victory in their match against the Lane Ends whist that local derby at The Stanley saw some revenge exacted as The Stanley edged a close fought contest 20 - 15 partly due to a 5-0 whitewash in the singles for yours truly over Maurice Skelhorn!!
Good luck in all matches tonight........
Just the one game of cricket to get us underway last week as the Oak and Stable Bar had to rearrange that fixture..... so......
The Cricket Club are top of the league despite the best efforts of Man Possessed Jimmy Heald who virtually single handedly almost swung it the way of The Lane Ends, but alas to no avail!!
The general feedback was excellent, fun and enjoyable which bodes well for the rest of the season.
Plenty of excellent bowling on show between theses two sides with no fewer than six hat-tricks in the match, three from the afore mentioned Mr Heald who also hit two 140's and a 180 !! Excellent performance sir....
Anyway, The KCC eventually won by 19 - 16 with seven of those points coming from Norman Dixon as he won his match by 7 wickets.
Average scoring between the two teams was around the 180 - 200 runs mark with the exception being Jimmy's mammoth 477 runs as he won by 407 runs on the way to collecting nine points for his team.
Not forgetting the dominoes league as this continued from where we left off and this was really close with The KCC just edging the result 18 - 17 courtesy of messrs Reddy and Williams' 3-2 final match decider in the doubles!
So well done to all and same again this week.
I've designed a new Cricket and Dominoes Result Sheet which I will post once I have done this, it should make it clearer but you'll still need your points guide which are contained within your rules sheet.
Hi guys cricket season starts tonight so good luck to all four teams taking part.
Don't forget. ..... it is limited overs to twenty (20) sets of three darts for each player in the singles and in the doubles it's twenty again (10 sets of three for each player).
Points scoring is on the rules sheets which was posted on here on 2nd November.
The dominoes continue from where we left off. ....
Good luck! !
